We Built a Community for People Who Actually Mean to Go
Nifl now has a Discord community. A place to share collections, shape the product, and connect with the team building it. Here's what's inside and why we built it.
Why We Built This
Nifl exists because most people are better at saving places than going to them. The intention is there. The follow-through isn't.
Building a product around that idea means talking to the people who feel it most. Not through surveys. Not through analytics dashboards. Through actual conversation.
That's why we built the Nifl Community — a Discord server for people who care about places, who want to shape what Nifl becomes, and who want to be close to something while it's still being made.
What the Community Is For
It's not a support inbox. It's not a hype channel. It's a place for real conversation about places, planning, and building a product that actually helps people act on their intentions.
Concretely, it's where:
- You can tell us what's broken and know it'll be read
- You can share an idea and watch it influence what we build
- You can share a collection you're proud of with people who get it
- You can ask for recommendations in a city you're visiting
- You can watch Nifl being built in real time — the decisions, the mistakes, the thinking behind it
What's Inside
The server is structured around five areas:
Welcome
Everything you need when you first arrive — the rules, how to get your role, how to download the app, and where announcements live.
Community
The heart of the server. General chat, a channel for sharing places and recommendations with people who care about them, and a space to share the collections you've been building in Nifl.
Product
This is where Nifl gets shaped. Bug reports, feature ideas, general feedback, a live roadmap, and a changelog of everything that ships. Every post here is read by the team. Nothing gets ignored.
Explore
Community-built city guides and collection inspiration. Useful whether you have the app or not — just for people who think carefully about places.
Founder
Direct access. I post honest updates about what's happening with Nifl in #from-daniel — not polished announcements, just real ones. And #ask-me-anything is exactly what it sounds like.
The Pioneer Role
The first 100 people to join get the Pioneer role — a permanent marker that you were here before Nifl was big.
It's not a marketing gimmick. It's a genuine acknowledgement that early community members shape products in ways that later ones can't. The feedback from the first 100 people matters more than feedback from the next 10,000.
If you're reading this early — that's what joining now means.
Who It's For
You don't need to have downloaded Nifl to join. The community is open to:
- People already using the app who want to help shape it
- People curious about Nifl who aren't ready to download yet
- People who just care about places and want somewhere to talk about them
The only requirement is that you're here in good faith.
A Note on Tone
The Nifl Community is built around the same values as the app itself — calm, intentional, no pressure.
It won't be a fast-moving hype server. It won't have countdown timers or giveaway spam or aggressive growth tactics. It'll be a quiet, useful place that gets better as more thoughtful people join it.
That's the intention anyway. Come help us keep it that way.
